Job Summary:
The Mohs Floater will be trained in all areas of the Mohs surgery department. The Candidate will be crossed trained to perform job duties of a front desk coordinator, surgery scheduler, junior histotechnician, surgery assistant, and support staff. This Candidate should be flexible and versatile, willing to help where needed. This position will require travel to multiple locations as the need presents itself. This person should be reliable, empathetic, work well within a team, and compassionate about patient care.
Job Duties:
Clinical:
· Surgeon during surgery, excisions, biopsies
· Placing patients in rooms, taking histories, going in with physicians and assisting with surgeries, cleaning rooms for the next patient, cleaning instruments.
· Consults (both phone and office)
· Entering data in EMR system quickly and accurately
· Calling patients post-operatively
· Vital Signs
· Cleaning, sterilizing appropriate packs for surgery
· Cleaning exam rooms
· Stocking rooms
· Syringes/injectables as needed
· Process tissue on cryostat or by manual methods
· Produces consistently good quality microscopic slides that can be readily reviewed and interpreted by the Mohs surgeon
· Assisting other staff as needed depending on various needs of the office/providers
· Providing necessary coverage of other staff to ensure high operational standards
Administrative:
· Check patients in/out for appointments
· Make, cancel, and reschedule appointments
· Collect copays/deductibles per Insurance plan
· Make pre-op phone calls
· Fill syringes
· Monitory schedule ahead of time to avoid scheduling issues
· Return all calls received by the end of that same business day
· schedule patients for surgery and discuss and explain patient treatment options when scheduling as it pertains to each patient’s needs.
· Responsible for managing phone calls from patients, family members and outside referral sources while remaining HIPPA compliant
· General administrative projects as directed
* Travel between Pawley's Island, Rourk and South Strand will be required
Education:
High School Diploma/GED. Clinical or surgical certification preferred but not required.

At least one year in a Medical Office, Mohs surgery preferred but not required
Equipment Operated: Standard clinical and office equipment
Work Environment: Combination of medical office and exam rooms. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, and other conditions common in clinic settings. Light lifting
up to 20 lbs and ability to physically support patients as needed
