Position Summary:
The Front Office Receptionist will be responsible for the accurate and timely registration of patients utilizing medical systems. This role involves utilizing facility medical necessity tools to verify appropriate patient insurance coverage based on established policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will also provide exceptional customer service to physicians, patients, family members, and medical professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greeting and assisting patients and visitors in person or on the phone.
- Logging patient arrivals in the Practice Management System (EMR).
- Identifying patients using their date of birth and name, and creating new accounts when necessary.
- Preparing patient paperwork prior to appointments.
- Contacting patients who missed appointments to reschedule.
- Scheduling patient appointments in a way that optimizes satisfaction and efficiency.
- Assisting patients in distress with swift and effective responses.
- Updating patient information in the Practice Management System (EMR).
- Verifying insurance eligibility and financial standing, assigning correct payer type.
- Maintaining a clean and organized reception area.
- Recording and collecting patient payments at check-in/out.
- Upholding patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Following company policies and reporting any necessary changes.
- Exhibiting superior customer service skills.
- Answering the telephone promptly and professionally.
- Engaging professionally with all patients, visitors, providers, and team members.
- Performing other duties as assigned by Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred.
- At least 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
