Summary
Transcriptionists are an integral part of the laboratory team and provide support in patient testing. Team members are responsible for ensuring that patient identification on both specimens and medical documentation are correct and accurate. They also provide resolution for pre-analytic specimen related issues.
Job Responsibilities
- Listen to and transcribe recordings to text files.
- Maintain accuracy while transcribing texts.
- Complete transcriptions in a timely manner; reviewing grammar, punctuation and spelling prior to submission.
- Format and notate transcriptions based on specific client requirements.
- Correct any errors or inaccuracies in a timely manner.
- Fax completed reports to the appropriate provider.

Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to type quickly and accurately while proofreading.
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
- Excellent verbal communication, listening, and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating system
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous transcription experience preferred.
Physical Demands
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time, the ability to hear and understand speech, and the ability to use hands and fingers to operate a keyboard.
