As a key member of the QualDerm team, the Lead Medical Assistant (GSO) plays a crucial role in providing outstanding patient care and ensuring efficient operation within our growing network of dermatology practices. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Nextech Expertise: Serve as a primary resource for staff and providers regarding Nextech usage, troubleshooting, supply management, and patient flow optimization.
- Team Coordination: Oversee MA assignments based on patient volume, staffing needs, and assist in managing backlogs.
- Quality Control: Ensure all MAs complete their tasks effectively and maintain productivity while assisting with to-do lists as necessary.
- Training & Development: Facilitate training for new MAs, adapt to departmental changes, and provide feedback on team performance to the Office Manager.
- Assistance to Office Manager: Collaborate on addressing patient complaints as well as issues related to registration, billing, and coding.
- Inventory Management: Oversee supply ordering, sorting, inventory, and restocking processes to ensure operational efficiency.
- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for examinations, including taking histories, preparing for procedures, and ensuring sterile environments.
- Lab Responsibilities: Handle specimen preparation, ensure accurate completion of requisitions, and maintain proper logs.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient information in EMR, address patient and pharmacy calls, and provide clarification on procedures and products.
- Scheduling & Prescriptions: Manage scheduling for surgical procedures and obtain necessary pre-authorizations while coordinating prescription requests per provider’s directives.
- Compliance Awareness: Uphold all HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control regulations along with office policies.
- General Operations: Ensure exam rooms are clean and organized, support housekeeping functions, review health histories, and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a formal medical assisting program and internship or 2-3 years of recent experience in a Dermatology Practice.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred
- Proven leadership skills and strong communication abilities
- Ability to multitask in a busy environment and maintain high-quality standards under pressure.
