About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Dermatology practice. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment. You will support dermatology providers with clinical procedures, patient care, and administrative tasks to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain clinical supplies.
- Room patients, take detailed medical histories, document concerns, and verify medications/allergies.
- Assist providers with dermatology procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, excisions, phototherapy, and cosmetic treatments.
- Provide wound care instructions, suture removal, dressing changes, and post-procedure education.
- Perform clinical tasks including vital signs, skin prep, specimen labeling, and lab requisitions.
- Process pathology specimens and ensure accurate documentation and handling.
Administrative Duties
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and support check-in/check-out as needed.
- Document care in the electronic health record (EHR) following practice and compliance standards.
- Handle prior authorizations for medications, procedures, and biologics.
- Respond to patient calls/messages and relay information to providers efficiently.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Prior dermatology experience is preferred but not required—willing to train the right candidate.
- Knowledge of common dermatology procedures, terminology, and wound care is a plus.
- Strong communication, time management, and patient-service skills.
- Comfortable working with EHR systems.
