Job Summary:
The Front Office Receptionist in Blaine, MN, will manage patient registration and ensure a smooth front office operation. This position involves using medical systems to verify patient insurance coverage and deliver exceptional customer service to physicians, patients, family members, and other healthcare professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone, addressing inquiries, or directing them appropriately.
- Document patient arrivals in the Practice Management System (EMR).
- Confirm patient identities by date of birth and name, creating new accounts as necessary.
- Prepare required patient paperwork ahead of appointments.
- Contact patients with “No Show” appointments to reschedule them and make notes in the Practice Management System.
- Schedule appointments to maximize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room efficiency.
- Provide support during emergencies by promptly responding to patients in distress.
- Review and update patient information in the Practice Management System (EMR).
- Verify insurance eligibility, financial status, and ensure the correct payer type is assigned. Notify the Billing Department if prior authorization is needed.
- Keep the reception area clean and organized.
- Record and collect patient copays and balances during check-in/out while safeguarding confidentiality.
- Adhere to operational policies and procedures, reporting changes when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with the team to fulfill related goals.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills at all times.
- Answer the telephone promptly and politely.
- Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, providers, and team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.
