Overview
Anne Arundel Dermatology is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our dermatology team at Academic Alliance in Dermatology - Clearwater, FL. In this role, you will partner closely with providers to support both cosmetic and general dermatology services, assisting with patient care, clinical flow, and in-office procedures throughout the day.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Medical Assistant interested in gaining hands-on experience in a cosmetic-heavy dermatology setting, with exposure to aesthetic procedures as well as medical dermatology care.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, FridayHours: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM (1-hour lunch)Average Weekly Hours: Approximately 36 hours/week

Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Room patients and obtain/update medical history, medications, allergies, and chief complaint
- Scribe for providers during general dermatology and cosmetic appointments
- Document patient encounters in EMR (ModMed/EMA preferred)
- Assist with general dermatology visits including skin checks, acne, rashes, lesion evaluations, biopsies, and procedural appointments
- Assist with cosmetic dermatology procedures including injectables, laser treatments, skincare procedures, and cosmetic consultations
- Prepare trays, instruments, syringes, and procedure rooms
- Capture clinical photography as needed
- Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure care
- Process pathology specimens accurately
- Maintain inventory, stock rooms, and sterilize instruments
- Support patient callbacks, prescription requests, and other clinical tasks
- Other duties assigned as deemed necesary by management
Qualifications
Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting patient care in a clinical or medical office environment
- Comfortable assessing and escalating patient concerns appropriately within scope
- Hands-on experience obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for visits, and assisting with clinical workflow
- Experience assisting with injections and in-office procedures preferred
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, diagnosis/procedure coding, and general clinical documentation practices
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and general computer proficiency
- Understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention protocols, and bloodborne pathogen safety standards
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, providers, and team members
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities throughout the day
- Comfortable working independently while also collaborating as part of a team-based clinical environment
- Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic familiarity with standard office technology including scanners, printers, copiers, and computer systems
- Comfortable traveling between assigned clinic locations as needed
- English fluency required
Licensure/Certifications/Education
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, or a bachelor’s degree in a pre-med, pre-physician assistant, biology, health sciences, or related clinical track preferred
- 1+ years of recent hands-on clinical experience in a Medical Assistant, CNA, patient care, or healthcare support role preferred
- Prior experience in dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, plastic surgery, med spa, or another outpatient specialty practice preferred
- Experience assisting with clinical procedures, injections, patient intake, EMR documentation, and provider support is a plus
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to perform the physical demands of a busy clinical environment, including:
- Remaining on your feet for extended periods throughout the clinic day
- Frequent walking between exam rooms, procedure areas, and supply stations
- Regular bending, reaching, twisting, crouching, and general movement during patient care activities
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for clinical tasks, documentation, instrument handling, and equipment use
- Ongoing verbal communication with patients, providers, and staff in person and by phone
- Ability to lift, move, or carry supplies and equipment up to 30 pounds
- Exposure to standard clinical risks, including infectious materials, sharps, and medical cleaning agents
