Description
Summary:
The position schedules patients for the Mohs procedure and serves as the coordinator for schedules and appointments between doctors and patients. The scheduler must listen to the needs of the person requesting the appointment to determine the amount of time the appointment will require and then find the time that works best for both the patient and the medical professional. They should be professional and can manage multiple calls in a busy practice, manage cancelations, including a provider who may need to reschedule a full day, finding the best alternatives for all involved.
Requirements & Responsibilities
? Professionally discuss and explain patient treatment options when scheduling as it pertains to each patient.
? Answer phone calls and e-mails, greeting patients and prospective patients and reminding them of upcoming appointments.
? Resolve appointment conflicts in an efficient manner; add, cancel, or update appointments.
? Liaise and coordinate with health care professionals about schedules, patients and any changes while adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
? Responsible for managing phone calls from patients, family members and referral sources in a call center setting by accurately and efficiently scheduling outpatient clinic appointments in the appropriate electronic medical record (EMR).
? Communicate with team members including providers, clinical teams and support staff to ensure accurate scheduling.
? Relay messages between patients, patient family members, medical professionals, and other team members utilizing appropriate messaging processes in the EMR.
? Provide accurate instructions to patients for completion of paperwork, online patient portal and our messaging system.
? Promote customer service skills with all patients including physicians, other staff members and family members to achieve positive outcomes.
? All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
? High School diploma, or equivalent, required
? 1-2 years call center or customer service experience required
? Strong understanding of medical terminology and prior medical training a plus
? Excellent communication and organizational skills, self-motivated and able to work independently
Working Conditions:
May be required to work extended periods of time using a computer screen.
