Job Summary
The Histology Technician-Evenings will be responsible for preparing and processing tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist. This position will work in the evening shift and will be responsible for ensuring that all samples are processed accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist
- Embed tissue in paraffin blocks
- Cut paraffin blocks with microtome
- Perform routine procedures
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment
- Ensure that all samples are processed accurately and efficiently
- Assist with quality control and quality assurance activities
- Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed
- Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and procedures
Qualifications
- This is a night position-7pm-3:30am
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a histology laboratory, preferred
- Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately and efficiently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Demands
The Histology Technician-Evenings may be required to stand for long periods of time and may need to lift or move heavy objects. This position may also be exposed to hazardous materials and chemicals, and will need to adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
