Job Summary: Full Time Registered Nurse at our Chesterfield 101 Office. The Registered Nurse will assist the physician in medical, cosmetic, and laser procedures.
Schedule:Full time, 30+ hours. Availability Monday through Friday during business hours of 7:30am-5:30pm. Open Flexibility to help cover in a team environment is needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the quality of service and care offered to patients and for respective provider.
- Have a thorough working knowledge of all standard operating protocol and policies that pertain to the clinical department.
- Have thorough knowledge of all clinical treatments to appropriately care for the patient’s needs. Proficient in pre-care and post-care treatment instructions. Fully understands provider to patient flow and anticipates provider’s next steps to the best of their ability.
- Complete all SDGU and required training and continued education opportunities within the allotted time frame.
- Assist the physician in Mohs surgery, medical, cosmetic, allergy, and/or laser procedures. Preps surgical/exam rooms for all procedures and properly cleans exam rooms after every visit.
- Properly assists provider in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, biopsies, cultures, photos, prescriptions, prior authorization, obtaining consents, and/or procedures within established guidelines.
- Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Conducts pre- and post-operative education with patients.
- Serves as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team.
- Takes and monitors patients’ vital signs.
- Ensures that the correct procedure is being performed on the correct patient.
- Preps operating room for patient/procedure and inventories all items both pre- and post-surgery.
- Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, and/or through an IV) and records prescribed medications.
- Records all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
- Provides accurate care and handling of specimens.
- Observes and enforces strict standards of asepsis.
- Selects and handles instruments and supplies used for the operation, passing them to surgeon.
- Cleans OR, cleans/sterilizes instruments (autoclave) post-surgery.
- Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.
- Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol.
- Assists with suturing patients after the surgery, including but not limited to helping to control bleeding and providing wound exposure.
- Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
- Monitors patients’ physical and emotional well-being throughout the care continuum and provides basic, bedside care.
- Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their post-treatment home care needs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation.
- Working knowledge and application of HIPAA & OSHA compliance.
- May be asked to do additional tasks for office and patient care when working in office as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in an outpatient surgery clinical environment strongly preferred.
- Current and active RN License with no restrictions.
- Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems preferred.
- If in allergy field and/or office, experience with allergy testing (skin prick, patch, and spirometry) preferred.
- Must be computer savvy and familiar with Outlook.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Excellent patient relations and customer services skills.
- Strong follow up stills and ownership/accountability
- Must be professional, reliable, and dedicated employee.
- Open availability to work during office and/or scheduled hours.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance
