Summary
The Ophthalmic Technician is an integral part of the healthcare team assisting the Ophthalmologist in providing excellent patient care.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer care during every patient interaction.
- Complete detailed patient history including past medical history, family medical history and chief complaint.
- Record medical history, current medications, and purpose of visit utilizing the patient's electronic medical record.
- Check condition of patient's eyes by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extraocular movements.
- Administer diagnostic and treatment -oriented procedures including dilation, refraction, pressures, and diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor and topography.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications.
- Maintain equipment and instruments.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of related ophthalmic experience.
- Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration with patients and other team members.
- Experience using ModMed, EMA, EMR preferred.
- COA or COT preferred.
