Job Overview:
The Medical Receptionist is a pivotal role within our practice, responsible for efficiently managing front office operations while delivering outstanding customer service to our patients. This position demands exceptional communication skills, keen attention to detail, and the capability to juggle multiple tasks seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors both in-person and over the phone, responding to inquiries or directing them accordingly.
- Log patient arrivals accurately within the Practice Management System (EMR).
- Confirm patient identities through date of birth and name and set up new accounts as necessary.
- Prepare essential patient paperwork prior to their visits.
- Contact patients who missed appointments to reschedule and document it in the Practice Management System; send follow-up letters as required.
- Enhance patient satisfaction by coordinating appointment scheduling and addressing patient questions.
- React promptly to patients in distress, applying sound judgment.
- Update patients' information accurately in the system and confirm insurance eligibility.
- Ensure a clean and organized reception area at all times.
- Collect patient copays and outstanding balances at check-in/out consistently.
- Maintain patient confidentiality while adhering to all policies and procedures.
- Support team efforts by achieving related results as needed.
- Exhibit exemplary customer service skills in all patient interactions.
- Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, providers, and team members.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.
- High School Diploma is required; an Associates Degree is preferred.
- Experience in customer service within a healthcare office is preferred (1 year).
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities are essential.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
