Job Summary: Full Time Licensed Vocational Nurse for our San Jose Office. The LVN will assist the physician in medical, cosmetic, and laser procedures.
Schedule: Full time, 30+ hours per week. Availability Monday through Friday during business hours of 8am to 5pm. Open Flexibility to help cover in a team environment is needed.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares patients for surgery including scheduling surgeries and preoperative visits; coordinating surgeon, assistants, etc; and taking photographs, including preoperative.
- Performs post-operative care for minor surgeries such as dressing changes, suture removal, photography, and assisting the MD as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining the supply room and maintenance of surgical equipment and sterilizing supplies.
- Stocks OR, RR, exam rooms, crash cart and anesthesia cart.
- Orders and organizes supplies and maintains log books.
- Calls in prescriptions as needed
- Checks surgical charts for all necessary lab work, EKG, chest x-ray, consents, treatment and instructions and ensures this information is available preoperatively.
- Performs patient counseling
- Ensures patient has appropriate discharge instructions for local anesthesia post-operatively and is accompanied by a responsible adult upon discharge.
- Directs attention to infection control and environmental safety practices to reduce changes of infection.
- Reports and documents information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Uses safe methods of handling equipment and follows safety rules at all times.
- Co-ordinates and implements special projects or assignments for MD or any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Certificate and License: Licensed to practice in State of CA
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Dermatology experience strongly preferred.
- Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems.
- Must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Excellent patient relation and customer services skills.
- Open availability to work during weekdays and weekends.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance
Travel:
From time to time, operational business needs (e.g. training sessions, emergency coverage issues, etc.) may require employee travel to alternate locations within a reasonable distance based upon GM or RM discretion.
