Job Summary: The Front Office Receptionist will manage accurate and timely patient registration utilizing medical systems. This role includes verifying appropriate patient insurance coverage and performing tasks according to established policies and procedures while providing exceptional customer service to physicians, patients, family members, and other medical professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors in person or on the phone, addressing inquiries or directing them appropriately.
- Document patient arrival in the Practice Management System (EMR).
- Identify patients by verifying date of birth and name in the computer system, creating new accounts as necessary.
- Prepare necessary paperwork prior to patients' appointments.
- Contact patients who have missed appointments to reschedule and document relevant information in the Practice Management System.
- Schedule appointments to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization, while addressing patients' questions and concerns.
- Assist in emergencies by responding quickly to patients in distress, using sound judgment.
- Review the Practice Management System for necessary updates, working with patients to obtain and accurately input updated information.
- Verify insurance eligibility, financial status, and payer sources while ensuring proper authorizations are obtained as needed.
- Ensure a clean and organized reception area.
- Record and collect patient copays and balances at check-in/out.
- Maintain confidentiality of personal and financial information to protect patients' rights.
- Adhere to policies and procedures, reporting required changes.
- Contribute to team efforts by achieving related results.
- Exhibit superior customer service skills.
- Answer telephones timely and courteously.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with patients, visitors, providers, and team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.
- High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred.
- 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare office preferred.
