Summary
The Lab Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Pathologists and Pathology Technologists in the laboratory. The assistant will perform a variety of tasks including preparing and processing tissue samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring the laboratory is clean and organized.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and process tissue samples for analysis.
- Assist Pathologists and Pathology Technologists in laboratory procedures, including but not limited to sending cases out for 2nd opinions or IDCs and removing slides from IHC machines.
- Routinely clean and organize laboratory equipment to ensure good working order.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience working in a laboratory setting preferred.
- Ability to adhere to instructions and work independently.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to occasionally lift cases of slides or blocks that range from 15-20lbs.
- Ability to occasionally lift chemical supplies up to 30lbs.
