Summary
The Histology Technician will perform the various tasks required for processing and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the pathologist. This may include cutting, mounting, and staining procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform Histological technical procedures using manual and automated techniques to achieve quality pathology slides for review by pathologist
- Prepare histological samples by embedding and sectioning formalin fixed paraffin blocks,
- Use machines such as embedding centers, microtomes and automated stainers
- Comply with OSHA, CLIA and HIPPA regulations
- Perform routine housekeeping duties, keep room and lab stocked with supplies
- Organize, file and dispose of all specimens within regulation.
- Participate in external and internal proficiency testing

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Lab experience required
- Ability to learn related center tasks and be of assistance to management and physicians
- Self-motivated to achieve the highest patient care and customer service standards
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred)
- Familiarity with the ModMed EMA EMR (preferred)
- Thorough understanding of HIPAA law
- Team player
