Purpose:
Our organization operates a network of healthcare facilities and depends on reliable, secure, and scalable technology to support patient care, clinical staff, and back-office operations across all sites. We are seeking a Director, IT Infrastructure & Cloud to lead the strategy, operations, and support security posture of our infrastructure environment - spanning on-premises systems, and our Microsoft Azure cloud footprint.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has both architected and operated cloud infrastructure in a healthcare or other highly regulated, multisite environment, and who understands that in this industry, downtime and security incidents have direct consequences for patient care and compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Cloud Strategy
- Own the architecture, roadmap, and lifecycle management of infrastructure across facility-level IT, and Azure cloud environments.
- Own and evolve the Company’s Azure-based cloud environment, ensuring scalability, resilience, performance, and cost discipline.
- Standardize and modernize clinic-level infrastructure (networks, devices, connectivity) while enabling local operational excellence.
- Lead ongoing cloud migration and optimization initiatives (Azure IaaS/PaaS, Azure AD/Entra ID, Azure networking, backup/DR, cost management).
- Evaluate and implement hybrid cloud architectures that balance performance, cost, scalability, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, HITRUST).
- Develop and maintain a multi-year infrastructure investment and refresh plan across all sites.
- Lead IT planning and execution for de-novo site launches - network design, hardware procurement, connectivity, security baseline, and go-live readiness - ensuring new facilities meet operational and compliance standards from day one.
- Serve as the IT lead for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, including technical due diligence, infrastructure and security risk assessment, systems/network integration planning, and post-close consolidation of acquired sites into the corporate environment.
Day-to-Day IT Operations
- Direct 24/7 operational support for infrastructure, network, servers, storage, virtualization, and end-user computing across all locations.
- Establish and monitor SLAs/KPIs for uptime, incident response, and service desk performance; drive continuous improvement via automation and AI enablement.
- Oversee capacity planning, patching, monitoring, and change management processes to minimize disruption to clinical operations.
- Manage vendor and managed service provider (MSP) relationships, contracts, and performance.
- Lead incident and problem management for infrastructure-related outages, including on-call escalation processes.
- Own IT budget planning and management for infrastructure and cloud operations.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Partner with the security function to ensure infrastructure and cloud environments meet HIPAA, HITECH, and applicable state/federal security requirements.
- Champion secure architecture practices: identity and access management, endpoint protection, network segmentation, encryption, and vulnerability management.
- Lead response and remediation for infrastructure-related security incidents in coordination with security/compliance teams.
- Support risk assessments, security audits, and third-party/vendor risk reviews.
- Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are documented, tested, and aligned with clinical operational needs.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing infrastructure and operations team across multiple sites.
- Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on infrastructure risk, investment priorities, and technology roadmap.
- Partner with clinical, facilities, and compliance leaders to ensure technology decisions support patient care delivery and regulatory obligations.
- Standardize infrastructure practices, documentation, and tooling across all facilities to reduce variability and risk.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
