OverviewThe Surgical Tech is essential during the patient visit and surgery. Working with providers, the Surgical Tech is responsible for maintaining a safe surgical intervention for the patient by practicing proper aseptic techniques.
Provides support for regular patient visits by taking vital signs, obtaining history and chief complaint; assisting with select surgery procedures. The Surgical Tech also plays a role in patient education regarding treatment plans and medication, along with nursing procedures such as suture removal, dressing changes, and completion of pathology and lab requisitions.
We are looking for a Scrub-Tech for a busy Board Certified Plastic Surgeon’s office. Candidate should be proficient in providing a sterile field and handling instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures. Plastics experience a plus, but not required.

ResponsibilitiesSurgery Responsibilities:
1. Ensures operating room is properly prepared for the daily schedule, including:
o Prepares supplies
o Sterilizes equipment.
o Cleans the operating room.
o Opens sterile packs, instruments and supplies, ensuring that a sterile environment is maintained throughout the procedure.
2. Prepares patients for surgery by washing and disinfecting incision sites.
3. Provides support during surgery by providing instruments and other supplies.
4. Positions and re-positions patent during surgery.
5. Monitors patient during surgery.
6. Responsible for the tracking surgical supplies.
7. Checks and supplies operating room at the end of scheduled procedures.
8. Maintains a safe environment for treating the surgical patient, including safeguards to protect the patient from cross infection.
Clinic Responsibilities:
1. Rooms patients and documents vital information
2. Supports providers with biopsies and surgical procedures such as excisions, laser surgery, etc.
3. Educates patient as required after provider establishes the treatment plan. Ensures that the patient understands the treatment plan, understands the proper use of their medications, and understands their responsibility for compliance with the treatment plan prior to leaving the office.
4. Straightens and cleans exam rooms after patient visits.
5. Performs nursing procedures such as suture removal, dressing changes without direct provider supervision.
6. Responsible for filling out all required pathology and laboratory requisition documents for patients and provides clinical staff with completed documents for data entry.
7. Stocks exam rooms and notifies clinical staff of supply needs for replenishment.
8. Performs duties related to medical instrument cleaning and sterilization.
9. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
QualificationsEducation & experience
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Surgical Technician certification from an accredited school or training program required.
3. BCLS certification required.
4. 3+ years’ experience working in a clinical setting or outpatient operating room.
5. Cosmetic Surgery experience a bonus

2. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
3. Demonstrated leadership experience. Must be able to demonstrate leadership by serving as an example to others with regard to professional behavior, handling multiple tasks, maintaining a positive attitude, and in response to organizational change.
4. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Must be able to learn new software quickly.
5. Must possess excellent leadership, organizational, and computer skills.
6. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, board, clients, and the public.
7. Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
8. Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness.
