Job Summary
The Grossing Technician is responsible for the accurate and timely gross examination of surgical specimens. This includes the dissection, description, and sampling of tissue specimens for histological processing. The Grossing Technician must adhere to all laboratory policies and procedures, as well as maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform gross examination of surgical specimens
- Dissect, describe, and sample tissue specimens for histological processing
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all grossing tasks
- Adhere to laboratory policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Assist with other laboratory duties as needed
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in grossing surgical specimens
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity
