ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and maintain histological stains and dilutions in accordance with laboratory protocols.
- Process and embed tissue specimens with precision for microscopic examination.
- Prepare and section formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue specimens for histological evaluation.
- Perform routine and special staining techniques to highlight cellular structures.
- Maintain quality control procedures to ensure optimal slide preparation.
- Manage the labeling, filing, and storage of histological slides to maintain an organized and efficient laboratory environment.
- Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Record laboratory data accurately and consistently to comply with quality assurance standards.
- Participate in training and mentoring of new staff members or students as necessary.
- Maintain compliance with laboratory safety and regulatory standards as outlined by CLIA and OSHA.
- Perform other related duties as required by the laboratory supervisor.
- Uphold high ethical standards consistent with the company’s mission and values.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or related field.
- Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) preferred.
- Previous experience in a histology laboratory setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent observational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
