OverviewUnder the direct supervision of the General Counsel, the individual selected for this position will provide legal advice and counsel on corporate, regulatory and governance matters, as well as general contracting, real estate, corporate healthcare transactions, and various special projects. This position is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a fast-paced, energetic legal department in a quickly growing, best-in-class national healthcare practice.
Responsibilities- Provide legal review to identify, interpret, and apply, in a highly ethical manner, applicable legal and regulatory requirements and determine their implications for the business.
- Perform federal and multi-state research and monitor proposed legislation to ensure compliance with quickly changing healthcare laws as they apply to matters such as clinician scope of practice, in-office compounding of prescriptions, prescribing of controlled substances, and other relevant issues.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure compliance with legal requirements, to analyze unique situations and to provide guidance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including physicians, executive leadership, and other legal professionals, to develop and implement effective physician and advanced practice provider contracting strategies.
- Draft, review interpret and negotiate contracts that run the gamut from employment agreements and leases, to affiliation agreements and service agreements.
- Assist in the maintenance of our legal entities and ensure compliance with state and local registration requirements.
- Assist the General Counsel in prosecution and defense of lawsuits.
- Assist with risk management and insurance programs.
- Adherence to compliance and completion of compliance training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation
- Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited Law School or College of Law.
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state and in good standing in all states where admitted. Member of the Wisconsin or Illinois State bar or eligible to be admitted thereto.
- At least 8 years of experience in a law firm or an in-house legal department, preferably with healthcare experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience should include: strong legal research and writing skills, contract drafting and negotiation, performing transaction due diligence and work on corporate governance matters.

- Ability to distill complex concepts or situations into concise and compelling communications and ability to influence colleagues and effect necessary change in policies or behaviors to clinical and non-legal team in a clear and understandable manner.

- Must be a self-motivated team player, able to demonstrate a history of successfully resolving challenging legal issues and able to effectively deliver sound and clear legal advice in a fast-paced business setting.
- Must be detail oriented with ability to identify and analyze complex issues and independently develop creative solutions in a prompt and efficient matter.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated leadership experience. Must be able to demonstrate leadership by serving as an example to others regarding professional behavior, handling multiple tasks, maintaining a positive attitude, and in response to organizational change.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Must be able to learn new software quickly.
- Must possess excellent leadership, organizational, and computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, board, clients, and the public.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately.

For this position, the base pay range is $200,000-$240,000 per year. Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education, certification and training. This position is eligible for our annual incentive program.
