POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mohs Histotech located in Pinehurst, NC plays a vital role in providing specialist histotechnical services for Mohs micrographic surgery. This position requires a high degree of precision, critical thinking, and efficiency in preparing tissue specimens while supporting surgeons in a collaborative clinical environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and cut frozen sections from tissue specimens using Mohs surgical techniques.
- Process and embed excised tissues to ensure optimal preparation for histological evaluation.
- Perform histological staining techniques to prepare laboratory slides accurately.
- Assure quality control of slides and maintain compliance with laboratory standards and protocols.
- Document all processes in accordance with the Mohs procedure guidelines and laboratory policies.
- Interact with patients and clinical staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Maintain a safe and sterile laboratory environment while adhering to OSHA and CLIA regulations.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to further develop histological practices.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned to support the laboratory operations.
