Overview
Academic Alliance in Dermatology is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant to provide coverage across our Tampa Bay clinics. This role supports both general and cosmetic dermatology services and is designed for individuals who are comfortable working in different clinic environments and stepping in where needed.
This position is best suited for candidates looking for flexible clinical experience while maintaining a consistent weekly availability.
Schedule & Coverage
- As-needed / PRN role based on clinic needs
- Consistent availability required on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
- Schedule may be assigned anywhere from same-day coverage to a few weeks in advance
- Shifts will vary week to week and are not guaranteed
To support additional hours, this role will include cross-training in front desk responsibilities.
Location & Travel
This is a float position supporting multiple offices throughout the Tampa Bay region, including but not limited to:
- Clearwater
- Largo
- St. Petersburg
- Tampa

Compensation
- Hourly rate: $23.00 - 24.00/hour (depending on experience)
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for visits by completing intake and obtaining vital signs
- Assist providers with medical and cosmetic dermatology procedures
- Set up and break down exam rooms, ensuring proper instrument and supply readiness
- Handle pathology specimens, including labeling and coordination with labs
- Document encounters and updates within the EMR system
- Respond to patient questions and relay information to providers as needed
- Maintain clinic cleanliness, including sterilization of instruments and equipment
- Monitor inventory levels and restock clinical supplies
- Adjust to varying clinic workflows and provider preferences across locations
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience in a clinical setting (Medical Assistant, CNA, or similar) strongly preferred
- Completion of a Medical Assistant or related healthcare program preferred
- Interest in dermatology or aesthetics is a plus
- Pre-med, pre-PA, or post-baccalaureate candidates encouraged to apply
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Frequent standing and walking throughout the day
- Regular use of hands for clinical tasks and equipment
- Bending, reaching, and assisting during procedures
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
- Exposure to standard clinical materials, including sharps and medical instruments
