Overview
We’re hiring a full-time Front Desk Receptionist (Medical Receptionist) to join Academic Alliance in Dermatology in Tampa, FL. This role is ideal for someone with strong customer service skills who is interested in working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
As a Front Desk Receptionist, responsibilities will include checking patients in and out, verifying and updating insurance and personal information, scheduling and confirming appointments, collecting copays, and supporting daily office operations to ensure an efficient and positive patient experience.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Spanish-speaking applicants are highly preferred.

Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities:
As a Front Desk Receptionist (Medical Receptionist), you will be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in delivering a positive patient experience.
- Greet and check in patients in a professional and welcoming manner
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including collecting copays and balances
- Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments and referrals
- Answer and screen incoming calls, take accurate messages, and route appropriately
- Enter and update patient demographics, insurance information, and medical records in the system
- Review patient charts to ensure all required information, documentation, and signatures are complete
- Track patient flow in the reception area and communicate updates to clinical staff
- Handle administrative tasks such as scanning, faxing, and managing incoming correspondence
- Maintain and update office and product inventory, including placing supply orders as needed
- Run end-of-day reports and assist with balancing daily payments
- Provide support to clinical and administrative team members as needed to ensure smooth office operations
- Deliver excellent customer service by treating all patients with professionalism, empathy, and respect
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of recent customer service experience required (retail, hospitality, or healthcare welcome)
- 1-3 years of experience as a Medical Receptionist or Front Desk in a medical office preferred
- Prior experience in dermatology or a specialty clinic setting preferred, but not required
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and manage a high-volume front desk environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare or medical office setting
- Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality standards
- Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
- Proficient with multi-line phone systems and standard office equipment (computer, fax, copier, scanner)
- Basic to intermediate computer skills required
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Fluent in English; Spanish-speaking candidates are a plus
- Ability to travel to nearby offices as needed for coverage
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged sitting with occasional standing, walking, stooping, and reaching
- Manual dexterity required for computer and phone use
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Vision and hearing sufficient for computer work and phone communication
