Overview
Academic Alliance in Dermatology is hiring a Front Desk Receptionist to support our Riverview, FL clinic. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-energy patient setting and enjoys balancing customer service with administrative responsibilities. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the patient experience from arrival to departure while ensuring accuracy in scheduling, insurance verification, and electronic records.
Schedule
- Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays (30 hours per week)
- Hours: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM (1-hour lunch break from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM)

Responsibilities
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming and professional first impression by greeting patients and guiding them through the check-in and check-out process
- Manage front desk communication by answering incoming calls, directing inquiries, and documenting accurate messages
- Schedule patient appointments, coordinate referrals, and maintain provider calendars efficiently
- Accurately enter and update patient demographics, insurance details, and required documentation in the EMR system
- Review patient charts to confirm all required information, forms, and signatures are complete prior to visits
- Monitor patient flow within the reception area and communicate updates with clinical staff as needed
- Collect copays, balances, and other payments in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain organized patient records by uploading, distributing, and managing incoming documents and correspondence
- Assist patients with basic billing and insurance-related questions
- Support inventory tracking and supply management, including ordering and restocking as needed
- Complete end-of-day responsibilities such as running reports and reconciling payments (when assigned closing duties)
- Ensure all incoming communications, including phone messages, faxes, and internal requests, are handled promptly
- Collaborate with team members to support overall clinic operations and patient experience
- Treat all patients with professionalism, empathy, and respect
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1-3 years of experience in a medical front desk, healthcare reception, or customer service
- Experience in dermatology or a specialty medical practice is a plus
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems preferred
- Ability to work extended clinic hours and maintain focus in a high-volume setting
Skills & Abilities
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail, especially with data entry and insurance verification
- Comfortable handling multi-line phone systems and office equipment
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting with occasional standing, walking, and reaching
- Ability to operate office equipment and computers for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds as needed
