POSITION SUMMARY:
The Histology Assistant position in Lombard, IL is involved assisting the histology laboratory team with the preparation and processing of tissue specimens to support accurate diagnostic outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Received and accessioned surgical specimens accurately.
- Prepared tissue samples through fixation, dehydration, and embedding.
- Sectioned and mounted tissue samples onto slides for microscopic examination.
- Performed routine and special staining procedures as required.
- Maintained accurate records and labeling for specimens.
- Assisted with preparation of reagents and laboratory maintenance.
- Supported quality control and assurance activities within the histology lab.
- Observed safety protocols and maintained a clean working environment.
- Collaborated effectively with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Participated in training and special projects as needed.
